You can view, create or customize price and volume alerts on any market by clicking theicon in the top-right of any Cryptowatch page.
To create a new alert from the alerts menu, click the
+ Create Alert button. To clear your alerts entirely, click the
Cancel all button.
+ Create Alert button will open a window over the chart:
Select whether the alert is for price or volume
Input the conditions required to trigger your alert. For volume alerts, you can also adjust the time period and choose between base and quote volume.
Decide what type of alert is triggered when conditions are met.
You can receive alerts by sound, browser pop-up, by SMS message and/or email. Tailor your alerts to your activity — if you're going to be at your desk for a while, you can choose to deselect SMS and email alerts. If you have to take a break, enable either or both to keep up with the market. If you absolutely can NOT miss the next move, why not fire up all four?
Each alert method has a corresponding icon in the alerts menu. This way you can quickly check exactly how Cryptowatch will get your attention when an alert triggers.
To set a price alert on the chart, click anywhere on the price chart's y-axis. You should see a triangle appear next to the price level like the image below. Alert triangles are yellow by default, but can be adjusted in the Theme section of the chart settings.
Alt (Windows/Linux) or
Option (Mac) to disable snapping to round numbers so you can place the alert at a precise price level. Alternatively, you can deselect the
Snap to round numbers option from the settings window.
Volume alerts behave like price alerts, but trigger at a determined volume level instead.
To set an alert for a volume level, just click on the y-axis of the volume section of the chart. Volume alerts depend on your chart's timeframe, so make sure the desired timeframe is set before you click to set the volume alert. For example, if you want to know when BTC/USD trades over 10K in a day on Kraken, make sure your timeframe is set to 1 day on the chart.
Alerts can be adjusted simply by clicking and dragging them on the y-axis of the price or volume chart. Right-clicking an alert on the y-axis of the price or volume charts will delete it.
For a more precise adjustment, click the bullhorn iconin the top-right of the page to open the Alerts menu. Clicking an existing alert will open the Alerts window, allowing you to edit the conditions, value, and what type of alert is triggered.
Price and volume alerts set via the y-axis can also be adjusted in the Alerts menu, just like any other.
When the price or volume crosses an alert you set, your browser will make a sound and the alerts menu in the upper right will expand. Browser alerts will fire even when you're viewing a different market. You will also receive a browser notification if you enabled them for https://cryptowat.ch. Chrome, Firefox, and Safari support these notifications.
If you have either a Pro or Basic account, you can also receive an email or SMS text message alert when an alert triggers. Get your 14 day free trial to try out email and SMS alerts.
Use the Command Line Interface (CLI) in the bottom-right of Cryptowatch to enter alerts in bulk.
Here’s how to create an alert on the Kraken BTCUSD market for when the price crosses 8,000, 9,000, and 10,000 with just one command:
alert kraken btcusd price >8000 >9000 >10000
As with any CLI command, you can get help by using the
-h flag after another command. Try typing
alerts -h to learn more about setting price and volume alerts with the command line.
